Francine Locke Wins Best Actress

It was a thrill for me to hear that Francine Locke won Best Actress at the Gideon Film Festival earlier this week for her role in Family Law. Francine contacted me a few months ago and asked if I’d write a story that would give her the greatest opportunity to win an award for Best Actress at a film festival.

Creating a platform for actors to display the range of their talent isn’t new. Many of the star oriented films released in late November and December are made specifically for Oscar nominations. With the growing arena of family and faith based films, a genre that Francine excels in, it wasn’t a surprise that she was interested in a similar goal.

Developing the character with Francine was a lot of fun. She is great at brainstorming and looking for the emotional hook that draws the audience into her character. She obviously did a great job in the role as a lawyer and made the character real enough that attorney’s informed us she was dead on with her portrayal.

Acting is a craft that few know how to sink their teeth into. Most just play themselves regardless of what the script calls for. Others spend days observing real people that are similar to their character and work hard to develop the same mannerisms and voice tones prevalent in that area of life.

Francine prepared for the role by brushing up on her acting skills with top-level classes that few actors are able to take. She wanted to make sure her character was real and natural. Her award proved the success of her process and placed her in discussions for a role in Cop Shoppe.
